The Loco Rio 8k takes place in the heart of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The course runs through three communities; Tarpon River, Riverwalk, and Rio Vista. Throughout your 5 mile journey, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful waterfront scenery, discover some of Lauderdale’s historic landmarks and pass by local staples like The Pirate Republic Bar and The Downtowner. You’re more than welcome to stop and have a Mimosa or Bloody Mary but we don’t recommend it until after the race. While running through Rio Vista make sure to say hello to the original Loco Rio’s, who will be aggressively cheering you on at Aid Stations 2 & 3. The Rio Vista neighborhood is a true gem, with homes from the early 20th Century…take it all in and enjoy a beautiful South Florida Winter morning.
